Urgent Telegram Sent after Jordanian Shells Damage the Brisker Rav's Home Now Being Auctioned by the Genazym Auction House

"The house of the Brisker Rav was partially destroyed and one of his children was injured!" This urgent telegram was sent in June of 1948 to Rabbi Yosef DovSoloveitchik of Boston, a cousin of the Brisker Rav.
In 1948 the Jordanians shelled Jerusalem striking the home of Rabbi Yitzchak Zev of Brisk. While it is well-known that his home was damaged, this telegram, now being auctioned by the Genazym Auction House, reveals that one of his children was wounded as well.
Anecdotally, the Rav later remarked, that had they remained home and not capitulated to his family's pleas to go down to the shelter, the child would not have been hurt. Read more
